Accessibility Statement
This statement applies to the website of the Master in Cybersecurity at the University of Minho, available at https://mcs.di.uminho.pt. It is published in accordance with Decreto-Lei n.º 83/2018, which transposes Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.
Conformance
The University of Minho is committed to making its digital services accessible in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. This website was developed using the Minimal Mistakes Jekyll theme, whose default templates are designed with accessibility in mind, and was further customised to use semantic HTML, descriptive link text, alternative text for informative images, and a contrast ratio that meets WCAG AA on its primary content surfaces.
At the date of preparation of this statement, the website is considered partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. A formal accessibility audit has not yet been conducted; sections that may not fully meet conformance are listed below. The University of Minho’s central Accessibility page provides further information on the institution’s overall accessibility commitments and resources.
Known Limitations
The following items have been identified as potentially failing WCAG 2.1 AA criteria; remediation is planned in successive releases of the site.
- Decorative images. A small number of decorative images included via the theme’s feature-row mechanism may not yet declare an empty
altattribute. These will be reviewed and corrected. - Cookie consent banner. The consent banner displayed on first visit uses inline styles for layout. Its colour contrast meets WCAG AA, but its dismissal does not currently announce focus changes through ARIA live regions; this will be revisited in a future iteration.
- Faculty grid (under development). Once a faculty grid with photographs is added (see the project roadmap), each photograph must include descriptive alternative text and the grid must remain navigable by keyboard.
- Third-party content. External resources linked from this site (e.g. the University of Minho student portal, BabeliUM, the DGES recognition portal) are governed by their own accessibility statements and not by this one.
If you encounter a barrier that prevents you from accessing information or services on this website, please write to dc-mcs@di.uminho.pt describing the issue, the page concerned, and your assistive-technology configuration where applicable. We aim to acknowledge accessibility complaints within ten working days and to indicate a plan for remediation within thirty working days.
Preparation of this Statement
This statement was prepared on 29 April 2026, based on a self-assessment of the website by the programme’s academic management committee. It will be reviewed at least annually, or whenever a substantive change is introduced to the site’s structure or templates.
Enforcement Procedure
In Portugal, oversight of compliance with the accessibility requirements set out in Decreto-Lei n.º 83/2018 is exercised by the Agência para a Modernização Administrativa (AMA). Should a complaint not be addressed satisfactorily through the contact above, you may submit a formal complaint via the AMA’s accessibility portal.
Compatibility
This website has been tested with current versions of the following user agents:
- Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari, on macOS, Windows, and Linux desktop environments.
- Mobile Safari (iOS) and Chrome (Android) on contemporary smartphones.
The site does not require JavaScript for its core navigational and informational content; the cookie-consent banner and the analytics opt-in flow are the only features that depend on JavaScript.
